Trapping

To monitor the mosquito population and species, eighty light traps are baited with dry ice from May through September. Within the District, the traps are set out one night per week. All the trapped mosquitoes are counted and identified. Certain species are sent to the Mesa County Health Department for virus testing.

The Mosquito Trap Reports provides our community a view of the mosquito trends, throughout the Grand Valley.
